Employment Services

Comcare LLC helps individuals move toward meaningful employment through services matched to their interests, abilities, and employment goals. Minnesota’s HCBS employment framework separates employment exploration, development, and support so a person can first understand available work, then pursue a job, and receive appropriate assistance to maintain employment. Our day-to-day focus is practical: identifying strengths, preparing for workplace expectations, connecting goals to real opportunities, and supporting sustained participation in competitive, integrated employment when that is the individual’s goal.

Who May Be Eligible for Employment Support

  • Eligibility depends on the person’s HCBS waiver, assessed needs, person-centered plan, and authorization for the applicable employment service.
  • Minnesota’s employment services are available through certain HCBS waiver programs, including the Developmental Disabilities, Community Alternative Care, Community Access for Disability Inclusion, and Brain Injury waivers.
  • The person should have an employment-related goal that can be addressed through the authorized service and should participate in determining the type of work and support that best fits their preferences.
  • Employment services are intended to support competitive, integrated employment and can address exploration, job development, and ongoing workplace support.
  • Specific eligibility, authorization, service limits, and documentation requirements are determined through Minnesota’s applicable program and the individual’s person-centered planning process.

Employment Assistance From Discovery Through Retention

Comcare LLC can provide employment-focused assistance at different stages, depending on what the individual’s authorized plan identifies as necessary.

  • Employment Exploration Services: Helps an individual learn about different jobs, workplaces, and employment possibilities through experiences that support informed choices about competitive, integrated employment.
  • Employment Development Services: Provides individualized assistance with pursuing competitive employment or self-employment, including practical job-search and employment-preparation activities.
  • Employment Support Services: Provides individualized support to help a person maintain paid employment in community-based, integrated work settings.
  • Job-Readiness and Workplace Preparation: When authorized as part of employment development, support can address workplace expectations, communication, routines, and other practical skills connected to the person’s employment goal.
  • Ongoing Employment Follow-Through: When employment support is authorized, assistance can focus on maintaining the job, responding to workplace challenges, and supporting continued participation rather than treating job placement as the end of the service.
